In 1830, Carmen, a beautiful and temperamental gypsy, lives a passionate passion with the naive D. José, an army corporal. Their relationship is so intense that D. José deserts and joins the group of smugglers that Carmen is part of. But, when she falls in love with Escamillo, a brave bullfighter, D. José goes crazy and swears to kill her.

CARMEN, a story of passion and tragedy by Ballet Español de Murcia, a company founded by Carmen and Matilde Rubio, in 1985. With its own identity, Ballet Español de Murcia aims to “dance” passionate stories, in choreographies that pay homage to the different styles of Spanish dance, with emphasis on flamenco. In its 33 years of existence, Ballet Español de Murcia has performed all over the world and won important awards, which confirm it as a true ambassador of Spanish culture.
